Getting Started with GIT Version Control

OpenInsight 10 integrates with GIT Version Control software. GIT is an industry standard for distributed application development. The Revelation team used GIT to support the development of version 10. We learned GIT is a lifestyle as much as a tool. This talk will demonstrate the GIT tools and discuss the practices we evolved to succeed with GIT in a distributed environment.

The Benefits of Deploying Your OpenInsight Application Using Remote Desktop Services

Today, businesses look not only at optimizing business resources, but also at management of when, where and how data are accessed. Remote networks are among the aspects of IT that need attention. Nowadays, remote desktop services (RDS) allow businesses to deliver secure remote services to end users effectively. In this session we will provide an overview of Remote Desktop Services and in particular deploying OpenInsight applications with 2X RAS.

OpenInsight as a REST API Engine, What You Should Know

Virtually everyone who develops web applications has heard of REST APIs. Common questions you might ask are: Is REST just another buzzword? Should I care? How can this benefit my application or company? The short answers to these questions are: No; Yes; and, Come to this presentation and find out how REST can benefit you. Building a new application with Openinsight 10

OpenInsight 10 will have so many new features that the best way to showcase them is a new sample application. With this in mind Revelation has invited Sprezzatura to create this application. In this presentation Andrew will demonstrate the application which is a subset of Sprezzatura's comprehensive bug tracking and management reporting tool with a focus on the newer working methods made possible by the extended Openinsight 10 toolset.

The OpenInsight Data Source Designer

Nowadays, connecting to external data sources is as important as using your Linear Hash data tables. OpenInsight 10 recognizes this by implementing a data source designer as a full-fledged tool instead of a submenu buried in the Database Manager. This talk will step through the designer, demonstrating connecting to various SQL and Non-SQL data sources including MSSQL, Couchbase, QM and Revelation's own Linear Hash. Beyond demonstrating the tools, the presentation will discuss OpenInsight and the data mart, or central repository of business data. OpenInsight applications in large organizations must contribute to the central warehouse and consume from it. For example, the master customer list may be stored in the warehouse, not your application, while customer orders may be calculated by your application but posted to the warehouse.

The R/Band Designer - Complete Report Integration Accomplished!

The new R/Band Designer, in addition to being seamlessly integrated into the OpenInsight 10 environment, brings together all of the traditional reporting tools that OpenInsight has provided over the years. Using new or existing R/List statements from existing OI Report Builder reports, R/Band allows the user to generate XML code, to run the R/Band report as a Banded Report Writer report, or to modify the original R/List statement using the Banded Report Writer Designer into a completely customized, banded report whose output is on par with the best created by competitive 3rd Party products, such as Crystal Reports.

O4W Form Designer for OpenInsight 10

OpenInsight 10.0 includes a completely redesigned Form Wizard, which allows developers and advanced users to create web forms dynamically. Conceived as a combination of the original O4W Form Designer and the desktop OpenInsight Form Designer, the new O4W Form Wizard allows for data-bound controls, drag and drop design, and both mobile and desktop browser output. Developers can continue to enhance/modify the generated form’s behavior through the use of Basic+ "commuter modules". With the new Form Designer, the creation of complex multi-page web forms is within everyone's grasp.
